Are you eager to lower your carbon footprint? The Green Homes Grant is paying up to £5,000 for your home improvement projects. From September 2020 to March 2021, the English government is dishing out £3 billion in grants for 600,000 homeowners to make their homes more energy-efficient.
Home Improvement and Grant Rules
There are some restrictions on the projects covered by the grant. Primary measures must be addressed first. If your work gets approved and one primary measure is accomplished, secondary measures can begin. Unlike home improvement loans, the vouchers do not need to be paid back and will cover at least two-thirds of the cost for these projects.
Only approved home improvement contractors can be used who are from a TrustMark Registered Business.

Primary Measures
At least one primary measure must get installed to qualify you for any funding.

Secondary Measures
The amount of funding you receive for primary measures is matched at most for your secondary improvements. If your home already has primary measures, you may still eligible for secondary measures.
Install New Windows
This grant scheme allows you to replace single glazed windows and doors that improve energy efficiency. Double and triple-glazed windows have layers of glass that allow for a small insulation space between the panels. These come in a variety of interesting colors and frames while having the added benefit of thermal efficiency for your home.
Drought Proof
This is a critical way to ensure your home has enough ventilation but keeps warm air in during the winter. Drought can occur in any small spaces around windows, doors, chimneys, and pipework.

In addition to being the newest fad, smart thermostats can help reduce your carbon footprint. With a smart thermostat, it’s possible to take 10-15% off your bills. Some of them even learn your daily routine and automatically heat and cool based on maximum energy savings.
