12 Simple Ways to Beautify Your Home With Flowers

It’s no secret that people love flowers. In fact, the floral industry rakes in a whopping $34.3 billion every year, with almost $2 billion being earned on Mother’s Day alone.

Of course, flowers don’t have to be limited to Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day. You can use flowers to add some extra color and beauty to your home any day of the year.

And you’re not limited to the same old bouquet in a vase, either. There are tons of unique ideas for home decoration with flowers.

Do you want to know what they are? Keep reading to find out!

1. Add Some Butterflies

One of the easiest ways to add a little interest to any flower arrangement is to incorporate butterflies. Just print out some images and glue them onto a piece of cardboard. Then bend the cardboard at the wings and glue a piece of wire to the bottom.

Then, all you have to do is place the wire snuggly into the arrangement—and voila! This design also works with bees and dragonflies, too!

2. Use Fresh Fruit

If you have a clear vase, you can hide those unsightly stems and add a little extra color by utilizing fresh fruit. Just thinly slice an orange, lemon, or lime and use the slices to line the inside edges of the vase before putting the flowers in.

3. Find a Unique Vessel

Who says you have to use a vase at all?

There are tons of unique vessels that you can use to display your flowers. Antique watering cans, old wine bottles, teacups, planter boxes, and even rain boots can give flowers a charming or rustic feel.

4. Defy Gravity

If you loved the idea of a teacup vase, you can take it one step further. With a few basic supplies, you can create a floating teacup that makes it look like the flowers are pouring out of the cup and onto the saucer.

5. Hang Flower Balls

If you’re looking for a way to incorporate flowers without cluttering your counters, consider making hanging flower balls.

All you need to do is trim the stems of some fake flowers and stick them in a foam ball. Finish it off by gluing any loose flowers and attaching a piece of ribbon to the top. Fresh flowers can also be used to make event decor or to add a temporary burst of color in your home.

6. Make Them Float

To give your flowers an extra elegant touch, consider creating your own floating flowers. Just cut small circles out of bubble wrap. Note, these circles should be large enough that they contain air bubbles but small enough that the flower will cover them.

Then, poke a hole in the center of the bubble wrap (avoiding popping any of the bubbles), trim the stem on your flowers, and stick the stem through the hole in the bubble wrap. Then place them in a clear basin with water. You can even add floating candles for a more romantic feel.

7. Press Them in Glass

Have you received a special rose delivery or flower bouquet that you want to save? You can press some flowers and petals in between two panes of glass lined with wax paper.

Place something heavy on top, like a book or paperweight, for roughly 2 weeks. Then you can remove the wax paper and add a frame around your glass panes.

8. Create a Floral Monogram

Show your pride for your family name by creating an elegant floral monogram. Just find a large wooden letter, cut the stems off your fake flowers of choice, and glue the flowers onto the sign.

If you want your monogram to pop out more, you can first cover your wooden letter with pieces of foam and cover the top and sides of the foam in flowers. Make sure you include some greenery for a rustic and natural appearance.

9. Make Wall Art

Are you looking for a unique and way to fill up empty space on your wall? Why not use flowers to make chic and personalized wall art?

Similar to making a monogram, you can cut the stems off of fake flowers and glue them onto a piece of wood as your backdrop. You can then paint smaller cardboard letters and glue them on top of the flowers.

If you want a seasonal decoration, you can have the letters spell out “Hello Spring” or “Happy Fall.” You can also use your daughter’s name for a cute piece of bedroom decor.

10. Make a Wreath

Wreaths are a great way to boost your curb appeal and welcome in the new season. To make a wreath that lasts year after year, trim the stems of fake flowers and stick them into a foam wreath form. You can then add some festive touches, like ribbons, butterflies, or even mini plastic pumpkins in the fall.

11. Add Some Color

If you want to have an arrangement of rainbow flowers and share a fun science experiment with your kids, consider coloring your own flowers.

Just fill up several glasses with water. Then add a few drops of food coloring to each glass and stir. Put a fresh white flower in each glass and see how the flowers change colors over the next few days.

When they’ve reached a desirable color, you can combine them into a beautiful arrangement.

12. Use Lanterns

Lanterns and flowers can be combined to create romantic mood lighting on your patio or during an event, like a wedding.

Just trim the stem of some flowers and attach them to the top of the lantern. Then, place thick, white candles inside the lanterns to create soft, romantic lighting.

If you don’t need to add any light, you could simply place your flowers inside the lantern for a rustic piece of decor.
